Summer School 2025

Cinderella

In the distant kingdom of Rowleyville, the local school master has sadly died, leaving his wife, Lady Lucille, her two daughters, Clarissa and Maud, and his own daughter, the beautiful Cinderella behind. Whilst her father had been patient and kind, her stepmother and stepsisters, are cruel and vicious to Cinderella, treating her like a servant and forcing her to live in the cellar.

Thankfully, Cinderella has many friends to keep her happy and upbeat; her three closest companions, Mary, Kate and Ashleigh, and local handymen, Buttons and Zips! Between them, they keep her spirits up and help her out where possible.

Meanwhile, up in the Castle, Prince Harold is getting very frustrated, as his parents, King George and Queen Charlotte are insistent that he marries a princess. Harold believes he should marry for love and not for convenience, but they are of a different opinion. He confides in his three friends, Bill, Will and Phil, but they are not much help. The King, with help of his senior advisers, agrees to throw a ball in the prince’s honour and decide to invite every eligible princess, in the hope that their son finds a princess to marry.

Lady Lucille and her daughters have taken over the school, dismissing Miss Lovely from her position as class teacher. They have a very different opinion about the lessons taught in school, much to the disgust of the children.

As with all good fairytales, we need a fairy! Fairy G has been recruiting, and is currently training Serenity, Destiny, Melody, Harmony, and Calamity to take on some of her workload. Not everything goes to plan of course.

When the King announces the ball to the town, there is much excitement, especially from Cinderella, her friends and Buttons and Zips, but Cinderella is quickly put in her place by her stepmother, who tells her the ball is for eligible young ladies, not servants.

When everyone goes to the ball, Cinderella is left alone in the cellar. Along comes Fairy G and her recruits to save the day. But their magic is only temporary, and she must leave the ball by midnight.

At the ball, Cinderella is a huge hit. No one recognises her, not even her friends, but Prince Harold quickly falls for her. As the clock strikes midnight, Cinderella runs from the Castle, before her magic disappears, happy that she got to dance with the Prince. In her haste, she leaves behind her glass slipper.

The next day, the King and Queen insist Harold marry the Princess Aubergenie, who he met the night before, but he once again refuses. He sets off on a quest to find the owner of the glass slipper. He visits every house, including the school, but is unable to find the owner of the slipper. Disheartened, he goes back to the village square, where he talks to Buttons and Zips about the girl who disappeared. If he doesn’t find her, he will have to marry Aubergenie. Realising who he is talking about, Buttons runs off to get Cinderella, but will he be too late?

How will the story end? You’ll have to find out on 29th August!
