Frequently Asked Questions

Here, you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions. If there is anything else you need to know, just get in touch using either the mobile number, email, via Facebook or the 'Contact Us' form.

When do you meet?

We meet every Saturday during term time. Our class runs from 10-11.30am

Where do you meet?

We meet at Rowley Learning Campus, Curral Road B65 9AN

How much does it cost?

Sessions are £5 per week. This is payable monthly on the first Saturday of each month.

For example: If the month includes 4 Saturdays, this would be £20 for the month.

Do we pay if we can't attend?

Yes, the fees are paid on a monthly basis, not weekly, so even if you are unable to make a week, the full fees are still paid at the start of the month.

Who can attend?

We have approximately 65 children who attend weekly. This includes both boys and girls from ages 4-18. You do not need to have any prior experience.

Is there an entrance audition?

No! TheatreKidz Rowley is open to anyone aged 4-18, who would like to gain theatre skills, build friendships and develop in confidence.

Can you join at any time?

We usually open spaces after a production for about 3 weeks. After this time, it makes it difficult for new people to join as they will have missed so much. Spaces normally become available in February/March and again in Sep/Oct. However, you can enquire at any time, but may have to go onto a waiting list.

What productions do you do?

We normally aim to put on a Show/Pantomime in January and a concert in July. This allows the children to experience both types of performance and gives them the opportunity to take on solo roles if they wish.

Do we have to buy tickets for the shows?

Due to the costs of putting on a production, we ask that every family aim to sell at least 5 tickets for each performance. If you can sell more...great!

Do you have insurances etc?

Yes! We are fully insured and have a consitution, Child Protection Policy and Health & Safety Policy in place. These can be viewed on request.

Are the teachers qualified?

Yes! The Director is a fully qualified school teacher, with 19 years teaching experience. In addition, she holds an ALCM from the London College of Music, together with numerous other music, dance and drama qualifications. The assistant workshop leaders are also highly experienced in performing and working with children. There is a first aider on site at all times, and DBS checks are regularly updated.

Are we expected to buy uniform?

Yes. A TheatreKidz T Shirt or Hoodie should be purchased within 6 weeks of joining and worn to each session. These are reasonably priced and can include your child's name on the back. We also ask that sensible footwear is worn at all times. This should be either black ballet shoes or Jazz shoes if possible. No crocs or sliders as they are not safe to perform in!

Do we have to buy costumes for the productions?

Hopefully not! We make and supply the main costumes for performances at a small hire charge of £3 per item (£2 for hats and smaller accessories). All other costumes are normally things you would have at home anyway, however, where possible we will share around costumes to ensure you do not have to pay out any more money!
